The DC Blast U-19 girls soccer team was created in August 2001. Based out of Washington, DC, the team consists of 16 of the top soccer players in the area, selected to represent Washington Soccer Club (WSC)

The Blast competes in the Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS)

On Saturday, June 11, 2006, the DC Blast completed a community service activity for the *Chesapeake Bay Campaign: "Save the Crabs Then Eat 'Em!" Ten of the team members and four adults, including the two coaches, canvassed Chevy Chase and Upper Northwest DC with information, bumper stickers, and coasters and spoke with neighbors about how they can help protect the health of the Bay. This area has large homes with large lawns and gardens and many people who use lawn care services to maintain their properties.

In summary, the girls covered nearly 1.5 miles on foot and reached over 180 homes in Chevy Chase, MD and Upper Northwest DC.

*The Chesapeake Bay Campaign provides information to people in the DC region about how the way yards and gardens are cared for can have a direct impact on the health of the Chesapeake Bay. The campaign is called, Save the Crabs Then Eat’Em! There are TV ads, billboards and other community marketing efforts under way.
